I've added this on to my jobs list for when its warmer and has stopped raining...

The back plates on Ebay range from £18/pair to £60/pair and mostly seem to be Chinese made. Are they all the same though or are better quality ones available?

Its not a 2 min job so I'd sooner not fit Baco Foil items but don't want to pay loads if they are all much the same.

I've not found genuine BMW yet so don't know how they compare.

Any good or bad experiences or is it just a bit of tin and shouldn't spend too long thinking about it?

Steve.

BMW genuine seem to be about £80/pair. Also found some German Butcher items for about £50/pair.

Most new after market items are usually of a good standard. German ones at £50 a pair sounds good to me Steve. If they’re sold in Germany they have to be a certain quality of they would not be allowed to sell them. Sorry I cant remember the name of the standards authority.

the seller is here:

they are out of stock at the moment but I had to wait about a week and then he got some more in. I just put them on the watch list in eBay.

Thanks all. I have some on order.

Now to choose some wheel bearings.....

I spend far more on this car than my daily driver (Once a weekly driver at the moment).

BMW use FAG, INA and Koyo.

On backplates, I've only used the cheapest and given them a coat of smooth black Hammerite. It's only a bit of stamped out pressed tin.
