I think is suitable for an open air disco, with no doubt!

Jehnert door card speaker system. Professionally made and you can still buy them new. If you visit the link below, click on the English flag in the top right corner and it will translate it for you.

I saw that €549.00 price and thought mmm that's a lot cheaper than I remember but then noticed that's the price WITHOUT speaker!

€1098 with speakers....

This used set for £350 is a good buy even if the speakers look like they've had little fingers poking the cones in!

I'd have bought it if I didn't have other things to do to the car...

They are hideous, look like the kind of rubbish that used to grace max power circa 2000

And waaaaaay to much

In the Ebay pic it has the covers off (which looks naff for sure) but with covers on you can't even tell there are speakers there.

Apart from a large black thing covering half of your door card.;) OK the OEM speakers aren't great but, it's a roadster, do you want to hear your sounds or want everyone else to hear them too. Just OTT.

My 2.0l has the HK upgrade and an aftermarket headunit with additional rear speakers and that works well.

My //M, in the picture, had the normal speakers - odd as it is one of the very first ever //M versions and was originally bought by the head of BMW UK and therefore you expect it would have had everything (maybe HK came later?). However the additional speakers in this aftermarket config mean that you can have the top down, AND your foot down AND listen to tunes....

IMO music and driving (or riding my motorbike) go hand in hand. Play it loud when you are pushing the car, AND/OR have it turned down when you have a passenger and are talking but this setup allows the low volumes to still have the depth that the music was recorded with.

I noticed that the factory hifi system, with subwoofer, on my Zed '96 is net superior to factory Business sound system on nowadays 1 Series!
So if I have to improve something, I should spend too much money on a high tech; I'm completely satisfied with my FM modulator, where I can play my own fav and keep the original sys on the car.
