I'd put it in the 'loud for everyday use, but great fun at weekends' bracket.

If it's a more subtle stainless steel one you want, I have this powerflow system for a 1.9 too.
That'd be the one I would fit Geoff, and it has a shiny end too!

Here we go again....
Only having my Z3 for 4 months don't know when the exhaust system was fitted but it looks quite new, I just don't like the black end and if I have to get a new system it will be one that is louder as the one on it makes it sound like a saloon car which I don't like, sports cars should sound sporty. As yet only found a s/s tip end in USA for £19.55 plus postage which will make it expensive I think, if I cant find one here I will ask what the postage will be.

I will probably be taking mine here http://www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk/ in the near future to get mine done though its a twin exhaust all the way down so I expect it to be quite expensive for me, but they give you the sound you ask for and you choose whatever tail pipe you want, they did my MX5 and it was spot on 
, I also used Longlife Exhausts is thornbury to do my Alfa and they also did a great job though that was a few years ago now

Thanks for the exhaust info do you know if they just sell the s/s tail pipe tip which is all I need at the moment as the system on my car is not that old but how old I do not know.

Hiya Geoff , we are in North Somerset In the Mendips, I guess they may do you just a tailpipe but I'd go for a full backbox because though its kinda expensive I have never yet regretted a single penny, apart from the grin you get and the nice burble you get doing down cheddar gorge its also good to know you have no worries about the exhaust come MOT time, in fact the only problem I found was getting under the car to polish it all the time or maybe that was just me

Good point but if it is not broken don't mend it ? Still not sure what I will do as I have come across a S/S back box new, un wanted as never fitted to car which is now sold, for £75, half price might be a better deal than buying just a tail pipe tip that would cost about £25 (in USA) and postage from T.Tony but not 100% sure if the American one fits, must do some more checking.
Being in North Somerset we are some 70 plus ? miles apart but would be good to meet up when it is not raining as I have only come across two owners of Z3 near me, one in Porlock and one in Wiliton which is 4 miles away and I do have his contact details, and neither new of our club so gave them a card that Gaz sent me.
Its still raining, when it stops must open garage and look under the Z to see how my rear box is fitted.
