Did you clear the code after your swap?
Yes but just came back again. I think i may have to get a bmw specific tool to see if i can get in more detail of the fault. The car starts and idles ok but give it some gas and it bogs down and you can smell the fuel.

Why am I getting a check engine light with no error codes ...

BMW fault code P1593 typically indicates an issue with the VANOS system and can be caused by improper camshaft timing or a sensor failure. This code can also relate to an open ground line. Replacing the VANOS solenoids often resolves this problem.

Possible Causes
  • VANOS System Malfunction: The code often points to a problem with the Variable Nockenwellen Steuerung (VANOS), which controls camshaft timing.

  • Sensor Failure: A failed sensor can also trigger this code.

  • Open Ground Line: An open circuit in the ground line can cause the fault.
Symptoms

  • Improper Camshaft Timing: The most common symptom is incorrect camshaft timing.
  • Fluctuating Tachometer: The engine's tachometer may show inconsistent readings.
Solutions
  • Replace VANOS Solenoids: In many cases, replacing the VANOS solenoids will fix the issue and clear the P1593 code.

  • Inspect Ground Lines: Check the ground lines for any breaks or issues.

  • Diagnose Sensors: Perform diagnostics on the associated sensors to identify and replace faulty ones.
Note: For a proper diagnosis and to confirm the exact cause, it's best to have a BMW technician use a professional diagnostic tool to read the fault code and perform relevant checks.
