Hello all

I have just ordered a 1997 Z3 1.9 4cyl from Japan..........I totally enjoy iconic vehicles and have always liked the Z3. I actually bought this particular vehicle as it is in excellent condition, only has 45 000 km (28 000 miles) on the clock and makes good sense as an entry into Z3 ownership. The vehicle will be used at high altitude in Johannesburg South Africa and I was wondering if any of the forum members could give me an indication of what it might be like to drive in terms of performance and driving pleasure.

I am not expecting blistering performance and as I currently drive a Land Rover Defender almost anything will be "fast" by comparison.

Regards

Andrew

:welcome: to the forum from West Cumbria, England. The smiles per gallon are endless with a decent performance that compares well with the MX5, MGF and alike. Better looking though IMHO :)

Hi Andrew and welcome from Lincoln UK. The 1.9 will give you lots of enjoyment I'm sure with enough power from a driver's engine from what I'm told on here. Enjoy.:)

Tony.

Welcome from Warwicksire!
That's all a bit peripatetic! Makes the rest of us look rather static.
Never had a Z3 but, posts indicate that the 1.9 is a great nicely balanced drivers car - enjoy :)

Hi from Canada! I'm sure you'll find the 1.9 sufficient and truly a well balanced, low maintenance machine. Exceptionally low milage I your car, well done. I bought my car a 97 1.9 last year and had it shipped from the UK TO Canada using nothing but my iPhone to handle ever aspect of the transaction. Good luck, JIM

Thanks for the advice.......I fitted a Safari Snorkel onto my Land Rover and could immediately feel that the engine was a lot smoother. The first job will be to replace all the fluids, lubricants, filters, grease all the nipples, change the plugs and check the brake pads............I will also run a fuel additive through the system to clean the injectors etc...........then I will put in on a dyno and see where I am power wise
