Depends on if you are after perfection, lots of videos on YouTube showing good results by polishing and sanding the area and spraying with clearcoat. I have refurbed some wheels and been surprised at how well they have come up. However the bonnet is the most visible area and it would drive me mad if it wasn't perfect.

Hi - have the same in my bonnet - have rubbed down using 600/1200 wet and dry and primed and then but a base coat on
The area is now completely smooth but I’m dubious to how well I will be able to blend it in with rattle cans and clear coat

Personally I would be looking at getting quotes for a respray but that is just my opinion.

Having had a few cars have lacquer peel over the years, and always asking if the clear coat can be replaced, the answer from every bodyshop or mobile repairer I have asked has been the same - i.e. "no - respray needed".

Really you need to have it repaired by a pro in a bodyshop , anything out of a rattle can will never look as good as a spray gun

the areas where it is peeling off need to be feathered out smooth which will almost certainly mean it will need primer and colour, however small the damage is it always ends up been larger when its ready for paint

just spraying clear coat over the peeling will not hide it.

i dont know any mobile guys that will touch a bonnet unless its very small , if the bodyshop are any good they will lifetime warranty the work and to give that warranty they have to paint the whole panel . Only monkeys or guys doin trade work will blow panels in like bonnet

i would shop around for some quotes making sure they all warranty the work for life not 3 months or two weeks etc ....

Or look for a bonnet in the same colour as yours but it may not be a perfect match
