I read about using regular car wax on the plastic window, may have been a mike fishwick tip. I must confess I do not wash my car that often, but last time I did I used some autoglym wax on the back window, it did make a difference, and having just washed my car again the window cleaned up a lot easier.

Wax will make a difference to the back window but only as protection for it.
Polishing involves a compound with different grades of abrasion and can certainly bring a dull plastic window back to life

With polishing and a wax or sealant added after this it will prolong the life of the window and give it a better appearance .
Protecting it from UV rays as well as better water run off..More than likely with the added protection it will also keep away the dreaded brittleness and cracking for a while longer..

the plastic window is something of a timebomb, i learnt the hard way about the way they can shatter when cold, i do take the time to warm the window in cold weather before lowering the roof now. I like the autoglym polish, good stuff, is it worth buying the sealer for putting on after the polish

Don't know much about Autoglym SRP as I haven't used it for many years and can't remember what abrasion properties it contains,

All I can say is any protection is better than non at all. Just remember Polish is not protection, Polish is exactly what it says. It polishes, Protection is Waxes, Sealants etc,
I have some Gtechniq trim restorer that says it can be used on plastic headlight lenses and that so far seems very good so may be worth trying on the rear window,

In fact after having my rear window replaced about 2 weeks ago I will give it an audition and see how it goes,
Normally I would just clean with a glass cleaner and apply a wax to give some protection,

Hope this helps you.

If you aren't using any wax after the polish its worth getting some Autoglym extra gloss protection - easy to use and lasts a while.
Been using autoglym for years, and bang for buck cant be beat really. Unless you want more of a cutting polish as they don't really do anything coarser.
Their paint renovator is too harsh IMO unless its really bad, and if its that bad you aren't too bothered about your mota :D
