Hello Everyone

I need to replace the thermostat on our new z3 1.9, in you guessed it hellrot red! How easy a job is this for an experienced diy'er? Also I have a lazy drivers window if anyone has any tips on that!

Not difficult there's a good amount of room to work in.around the thermostat. About the window I used some silicon spray on each edge & ran the window up/down a few times.
Good luck & welcome

The sticky window is a common thing. The window post rubber "grabs" the glass. Just spray some lube down the rubber. Silicon spray is probably the best to use, but good old WD40 will do it too. It worked on mine

Use Silicon spray to lubricate the window rubber guides, not an oil based lubricant. Welcome from near Lincoln.:)

Brilliant cheers for the advice guys. I'm planning on using standard blue 5 year coolant will this be suitable? Also how much will I need?

Be careful you use an antifreeze suitable for use in engines with Alloy heads and engine parts.

Thanks for the advice guys. All sorted now and it was pretty straightforward exept a head decided to snap off one of the housing bolts! Luckily I managed to weld a nut onto what was left and get it out so the mig welder well and truly saved the day!

Always best to remove bolts from a warm engine, Also screw the bolt up a slight bit before trying to undo. The heat from the mig welder probably helped when you finally undid the bolt.
