Can anyone recommend a foot rest for a right hand drive automatic? I'm not sure what BMW were thinking but the design is awful. I'm not a small person ;) and I although find generally the Z3 cockpit is satisfactory, I changed the steering wheel for a smaller Momo and need a solution for my foot. Any ideas? Self fabrication ideas welcome

@t-tony made one for his Z3 from one he had purchased! I'm sure he'll be here shortly to explain it to you. JIM

Oh yes, that's just what the doctor ordered. That's my next project, many thanks
Can I ask also where did you get the pedals from?

They were bought from an eBay seller, I'm not sure if they still have them though, sorry.;)

Behind that "lump" in the carpet there is foam? It looks like you used double sided tape and screws into the foam, is that right?

Looks really good, a definite must do...

Hi Jake, the "lump" in the carpet is just that, behind it there is a void so you need some large screws to bite into the carpet, also some double sided sticky tape to apply before you fit it. I did several "dry" fits before the actual final fitting.

Thanks a lot for that, the pics are very useful. So I thought about it today, with the pics in mind, and I wondered if the step is just carpet could I cut it away? I'd like to use an idea like yours but remove the carpet step to get an extra couple of inches leg room. I'm 6' 1", so I'm not sure if improving the current step is enough.
How was it for you? (said the vicar to the nun, I know). I think your idea will be a big improvement, but with my legs and size 11's it's difficult to judge.

I wear size 9 and I'm only 5'8" so it's hard to say but cutting out the carpet would be a bit extreme I think.
