Sadly I will have to let this go.
Unless I visit UK and see for myself what I will be getting, and I mean not only the shell, but all the different small or big bits and pieces, I do not feel confident enough wiring so much noney for sight unseen stuff.
Further to that it seems that sellers are reluctant to assist in shipping and/or provide some sort of other solutions on logistics (and I do not blame them).
Paying double taxes also is another issue as I do not intend to visit with a briefcase full of cash (GBP in cash also is a problem because banknotes have a different exchange rate from account to account transactions) and even if I bite the bullet and do all the above I will be on a one way road to "do or trash" my project.
Another option I was offered was to bring the car to UK and have it built, but -A the cost is high -B where is the fun in that?
So i guess it's a boat.
Thanks to everyone who chimed in, sorry for your time, but logic finally prevailed.

No. Not a boat. Do your 356. If I didn't already have the z3 donor I would have done the 356.

Off topic - yesterday I watched a sped up video on YT of somebody rebodying an SLK into a 300SL Gullwing. That's an interesting video.

Seen that too. Can't imagine the cost on that.

That SLK/300SL rebody is an extreme case. They even chopped off the windscreen frame and chopped off many panels from the SLK. Our Z3 panels are all just unscrewed and replaced with GRP panels so much easier to get a drivable car. It's then up to you what standard you finish the bodywork.

One problem though with any rebody is that you said that you can't change the dimensions of the car. I assume your registration document is similar to the German Zulassungsschein where the vehicle length etc is shown and can't be changed without TUV. If that's the case then you won't be able to do a Z3-to-507 because the new body is a lot longer than the original Z3.

Tell you what.....you build a nice little speed boat and when I have finished my 250 I will drive it to Greece and we can have a week's fun in both. How about that? ;)
Count me in on that one as well. How about a nice Miami Vice style go fast boat with a couple of 500hp Yamahas hanging off the back. Or a pretty Italian Riva Aquarama replica, and if it has the girlie aboard, even better!!!

I was thinking more inboards than outboards TBH. Outboards are a little chavvy! But yes, a couple of strumpets in tiny bikinis (or not!) would definitely need to be invited for the full 'experience' IMHO. If nothing else they could polish some wood!
