I've reached the point of giving up trying to sort that airbag light, so selling my z3 as spares or repairs, 121k miles 2.2 a few scuffs and scratches - drives and runs well what am I likely to get for it? Is eBay a good place to shift it?

Many people have or have had this issue. Does the airbag light being on indicate that the airbags are disabled?
It does. If the light is on the air bags are inoperative. The problem here is that a vehicle has to under go an annual inspection (MOT) and the airbag light being on means it fails the test and as such cannot be issued with a Pass certificate which is needed to get a road tax issued to use it on public roads. Also it makes Insurance invalid too.

Another dreaded airbag light
I've got the airbag light, my scanner is an ac808, the code it gives is 06 06, I've checked the pretensioner with a multimeter, thats okay, I've swapped in a replacement passenger side impact sensor, the battery is at 12.75v and I'm out of ideas - what do I check next?

Testing airbags?
My Z3 has been off the road too long now, I need to get the airbag fault sorted. I know from reading that connecting a multimeter to an airbag to test it's resistance would more than likely ruin my day/car/hands etc. I'm not sure how the built in self diagnosis system works, but could I unplug...

I live in the US and we don't have that MOT. I would be very curious to know if there is a way to bypass to make the airbags operate in the event of an accident after all, they are there to protect you should that happen not to save the insurance company money by turning them off. The whole thing seems silly.
In my Z the light is on regardless of who or what if anything is in the passenger seat. I would just assume find a way to just let the system work regardless of the retractors, or mats or anything else, hit something and the bags go off!

If the light is on there must be a fault code stored to say exactly what part of the system is playing up.

I've scanned my car with one of those inexpensive seatbelt scanners available on eBay and thought I fixed the issue but it didn't clear the codes or lights. Seems ridiculous that the airbags be disabled just because of a bad sensor. I haven't gone back to it for a long time, maybe I will now, thing is I m not expecting any different results.
I'll have to find that connection point.
The key word for me is "could" on mine it could be many things, but I've tried a few and frankly have other projects that I'd prefer to be working on, so this is now going to be sold.

Autophix 7910 diagnostic will tell you the correct fault description. Most likely is one or more of the connectors have corrosion causing the fault, rather than a failed component.
Many cars have two SRS bulbs in the dash (not sure about Zed's). If one bulb fails the other will light up, even if there's no other faults.

If you have the same code reader as me, mine only worked once I'd cut back the surround

I have that code reader and I have used it but not using the large adapter for the engine bay port (sorry cant remember the BMW name for that). I'll have to try that.

I think that using the inside (obd) connection does not sort the air bag, try the engine bay . If you get error 10. Try cuting back the plastic. Good luck. Sorry if all this is wrong I'm on the M44 1.9
Even if your Z3 has an OBD port inside the car under the dash it does not read anything other than Engine and Auto gearbox modules. It doesn’t read airbag codes.
