Car sometimes fails to start first time

Looking for some advice..

I have a 2000 2.0l Z3 and found that occasionally on the first go the car will crank but not start. The car always starts fine on the second attempt, and doesn’t always fail on the first go.

Could this be something simple like the key battery? Or maybe the fuel pump?

Would love some help with this! Thanks

Does it turn over on first attempt? What is it doing?
I had a similar issue with this and it was the earths take off clean and put back with a good metal to metal clean connection

Scan it for codes first if you find a camshaft sensor code then change it for a oem brand Bosch or Siemens maybe Hass brands don’t buy cheap pattern sensors you end up buying twice.
