Thanks for this. Very helpful info. I'm based South Lanarkshire, covering Strathaven, East Kilbride and travelling in and out of Glasgow. Stations are likely to be Talksport, Capital, Radio 1, Radio 1 xtra, and I suppose whatever I can find that makes me and the car dance :joyful:
Taken a few days longer than I said, but....

Currently, DAB in and around Glasgow is pretty much served from Blackhill between Glasgow and Edinburgh. I'm guessing there are some poor reception areas though.
However, there are new transmitters being installed at this very moment in central Glasgow to cover the city better. All 4 multiplexes BBC, Digital One, Glasgow local and Central Scotland ( and one new one SDL starting in March) are being installed so it means you will get every available station. You may see these mentioned if you look at the service information on your DAB radio.
A second site will be commissioned soon but I forgot to get the location. There must be an area that's still shielded by hills I guess. It is somewhere in Glasgow though.
I used to know what they were but the list of stations is too big to remember it all. I'll go get the list of stations later for you.
We've installed over 200 new transmitters in the last 18 months with another 300 or so still to be done across the UK. These are pretty much filling in local service dead spots. Reception should get better as you travel about. I'll check the other locations you mentioned when I can.

OK - Here you go - this is what you can get on the various DAB Multiplexes in and around Glasgow (each one carries a number of stations). I suspect this is far more than you can currently receive on Analogue FM and AM.

I didn't realise Darvel was so close to Glasgow!
I expect Darvel covers much of the southern area that you mentioned - Its a tall structure on top of high ground.
Joint Stereo is the DAB equivalent of Stereo.
Mono LSF is a low bit rate mono - used for speech and high compression (i.e. low quality) but some pop uses it (equivalent of AM I suppose)

Wow! How does one choose! Here I'm lucky if I get about a dozen FM stations to choose from!
We have over 350 different radio stations in the UK. Many cover very small areas, quite a few national stations. Quite a few though have syndicated content except for local news opt-out and commercials and the odd breakfast/evening shows.
Most of those services now appear on local DAB services. London has even more stations.

Florida is very similar, some great stations in the Orlando area but they're very "localised". I don't know how many there are but it is a lot, especially due to different languages etc.

Tony.
