Just read a story from GB News ( not a regular viewer ! )

Mark Roper from Hagerty classic insurance stating facts about excessive tax for our type of cars and the unfairness of it.

He's called on Government to cut it 50% which would be nice, purely due to less miles covered and those horrible Electric cars causing more road damage than our CO2's.

I hold no breath on it but nice to hear of it...you never know!!

We have a Labour Government. They raise taxes, not lower them. Someone's got to pay for the rise in benefits to all their 'voters'.

Never gonna happen IMO.

I pay more for road tax on a 2025 Focus than the Zed. I don't think that's fair. I also don't think it's fair that vehicles over 40 years old pay no road tax. Every part of society has something they think is unfair and has to pay too much for compared to others.

Come on now people, we need to make sure that sufficient taxes are raised so that the PlayStation, lager drinking, rollup smoking larger than necessary portion of UK society don't go without or have any need to get off their arses and fend for themselves. (For avoidance of doubt - I'm not referring to those people that genuinely need help from the state) If we don't do it who will? 🤔 🤨

Did I tell you guys that as of this month my UK state pension is being taxed. tsk. If we do something, such as get of our lazy ar*es and go to work, to help ourselves and the state has its hand in your pocket.

and this year I've started drawing my German state pension too - having clocked up enough years and contributions in Germany as well as enough years in the UK - and, guess what, that'll be taxed in the UK too. I'd likely have been better off sitting on the sofa, in two countries, all my life.

Nothing wrong with GBNews it's good to mix mix up news sources and reading their comments you get a better grasp of truth. I read Guardian and Telegraph daily, both opposites and find the truth often is in-between. I also watch GBnews, as I may also watch sky or bbc news.

Driving in mobility BMW's

Are you referring to Motability, per chance?

You are doubtless aware of the requirements to receive the opportunity of leasing a vehicle through the Motability scheme. If so your comment is illustrative of poor character, poor education, bigotry and plain ignorance on your part.

Were you sufficiently educated you would know BMW are no longer available on Motability.

We disabled people get well and truly peed off by comments and assertions such as yours.

Slap on the wrist for me, yes was Motability, and I agree that there are many who should have this support. I know of many who shouldn't but do and they spoil it for the likes of you.

GB news, if you like debate from all sides, if you like palatable truth, along with views and opinions you wont hear elsewhere, and some audience participation, GB news is both unique, and well worth bothering with.
I utterly refuse to watch or listen to BBC or SKY news any more..

we pay too much tax in this country which is wasted on many people, British or not.

Any opportunity to level the playing field I'll support.

Ah yes, GBNews. Where you're never more than a minute from a tory mp interviewing a bunch of other tory mps about how awful everybody else is.
please expand? who for instance? only tory presenter is mogg, the rest are news presenters.... even their guests are from all parties..

I've long thought that vehicle tax should be based on a calculation done annually, something along the lines of

(( mileage x kerb weight) x emissions) x tax rate.

Mileage being the difference between MOT's

Payment would then be proportional to road wear and emissions.

Or they could scrap vehicle tax completely and just add a tiny bit to the fuel then everyone would pay based on how much they guzzle. Also those foreign trucks and tourists etc thundering up and down the motorways would pay their fair whack too.

I don't mind paying a sensible VED or fuel duty if all the money raised is spent on the road infrastructure, the government raises roughly £32 billion to £35 billion annually for these. In 2024/25 the government spent approximately £6.5 billion on national roads and £6.4 billion on local roads (totalling roughly £12.9 billion on construction, maintenance, and operation) 🤔

and the price for absolutely everything would skyrocket.... every truck is carrying goods, food, household goods, building materials, car parts, fuel, everything we use, now imagine adding whatever % to that, transport companies would up their prices to collect and deliver, supermarkets and shops would have to to cover it.. unless you want the product to be manufactured for free, this would kill our economy dead.
and dont forget, once the price goes up regardless of what it is, it will never come down. ever.
