Exhaust change time... :(

Have just left Rosie at the Long Life dealer Fastfit Service Centre in Basingstoke. Had a long chat with them and have decided on "mid sport" which is kind of the middle level of noise.

Has to be said they were really good when looking at the car and discussing options. Had a choice of six different tail tips, ranging from something would have looked OEM sized to big and gnarly! I'll post pictures of which ones I've chosen later.

In their credit they offered a cheaper alternative to fix the flange between the cats and back section. I've mentally spent the money now, so I told him to go ahead before he changed my mind for me!

When I was on the ramp I got a better look and found that both bolts had let go on the right hand pipe. The first because the flange had let go completely, and the second one likely due to the stress of being the only one left in the relationship.

Car sounded like a race car for most of the South Downs cruise, popping and snarling like mad. Sounded really good. Short video from this mornings drive to the exhaust centre... (A lot of the clattering sounds were from the roadworks I was driving through)

Ok, second attempt... Got it fitted and it looks A*W*E*S*O*M*E but the noise level we have now is almost OEM. I've just got off the phone with the fitter who said to drop back in this afternoon and he'll sort it ;)

Some pictures of the underneath and tail tips.

Looks fantastic top job ! Are you popping back for a louder sound ?
I'm popping back for some form of sound! It's just too oem sounding - which is a nice sound, but just too mute. Want a bit of roar when I drive ;)

Looks very good Gaz, pipes are just right

I understand that .....wanting a sporty sound from a sports exhaust , nice to have the option on sound , looking forward to your sound byte

Lee has some answering to do on this front I would say. :D

Love the look of the new exhaust BUT the sound from the busted exhaust was awesome! Get the oxy torch out and make some new holes! Whooo hoooo! :)

This is not a silly question Gaz, but how many tries do they have to get the sound right, or do they keep at it till you're satisfied?

Tony.

Love the look of the new exhaust pipes Gaz, but like the sound of the original ones as well. look forward to seeing them on Sunday.

Mwahahaha. OMG...

The problem with the first one was it was almost oem in terms of sound but it had lost the pops and burble.

The centre box was removed and this brought back the pops and burbles. But not the exhaust note while moving.

3rd attempt seems to have got what I was looking for. I now have straight pipes and a straight through back box.

An awesome deep burble on idle and glorious sound on acceleration. Doesn't seem to droney at speed so far.

I'll try and take a video in a bit.

£360 all in, and the two changes he made to the system were all included in that price. The fitter, Matt, was really great about me being annoying though. He said it made a change someone wanting it louder, rather than moaning and asking for it to be quieter!

A little bit of idling :)

I need one.
wonder how much a quad setup would cost?
I asked if he could do quad, but he said there wasn't enough room to squeeze the second back box in - even though my spare wheel and carrier were removed long ago. I think it would have to be done the way Eisenmann do it, like this.

Nice rumble at idle, wait till it settles in a bit after a long run, will get even bassier with time, look forward to hearing it!

Should scream nicely at high revs, those 2.2's do spin up quickly. Side benefit is no matter what the dynk says it feels faster with a good exhaust note, enjoy!

@GazHyde I know its a pain when people copy... but I want that system... lol...Added to the christmas list..

I'll let you have a passenger ride first to make sure it is what you want. I've gone deliberately loud, and accept that under certain circumstances it can be a bit boomy. That said, it's nowhere near the the droning noise my Eisenmann system produced and seems a good all round system - if loud!
