Hi all,

What is the best way to adjust the handbrake, I know that there are separate adjusters for the handbrake shoes and cables etc. I am more referring to the method of doing this?

Do I pull the handbrake lever on for a couple of clicks then adjust until the wheels no longer turn or do I leave the lever in the off position and adjust until the wheels just begin to bind on to the shoes?

Help Pls.

Hello Brian

Slack off the two nuts under the handbrake leaver, pull up 4 clicks only then adjust your shoes accordingly then tighten up the nuts under the handbrake and test.

HTH's?

My method is this Brian. Slacken the cable adjusters right off (to the end of the adjuster thread). I then tighten the shoe adjusters until the brake locks, then tap the edge of the drum to centralise the shoes and see if they'll adjuster any further. I then back off the shoe adjuster until I can turn the drum by hanf(3-4 clicks). Then I readjust the cables to leave 4-5 clicks to lock the wheels.

Tony.
