I hope this is the correct area to post this. My ignition went bad. I was able to remove the cylinder but, that it. I cant find why the car won't start. The ignition stopped turning and I want to replace it. I don't mind spending the money and replacing everything but, I don't know where to start. Any suggestions? I have watched all the YouTube videos unless I missed something. Thanks from Alabama USA...
A replacement ignition barrel, perhaps?
Hi Tony. I have 2 keys for the ignition. One will start the engine but the other just turns in the lock and does nothing to start the engine. Maybe it's a key issue????????
Why I’ve suggested a replacement ignition barrel is because my car’s went/failed. About two years ago, I went for petrol, came to turn the key in the ignition and it wouldn’t turn which meant I couldn’t start the car nor turn the wheel and it was in locked position. A long story short: something bar in the ignition barrel had snapped in two which was stopping the key from turning, hence it needed a replacement ignition barrel.

On most vehicles the “ignition” comprises of two parts. The mechanical locking parts and on the back of that an electrical switch. You should be able to turn the electrical switch with a screw driver, and if you hold the key close enough for the transponder to read the chip while you turn the switch it should start.

Further to Tony's comment I have had a spinning lock a few times over the years - sometimes with engine running . I have managed to reset the barrel by removing the electrical switch (2 small screws only) and then turning the spindle with the key in the lock. see pics switch is orangey red part.
