Imobiliser correct procedure

I have the brick as its called here in fact I have 2 boxes
One works perfectly locking setting the alarm the second box lights up when a buttons pressed but nothing. So question is does it need a code or is it faulty a second spare box would be handy.
Any info would be great.
 
I think the programming feature above in the thread will answer i.
They can be programmed to the car its possible its battery went flat and it lost the coding.
I think the procedure outlines that you programme all remotes at once when you do it and they all work if the fob is ok.
Im sure i read that it will delete the working one as you start hence you programme all or you still may end up with one just the other one !
 
Worth a look if that one packs in but don't discard the non worker its probably fine.
My motto..... Don't try to fix whats not broke ! Lol =))
 
No visible breaks at the loom of doom area but some sharp bends, will have to open up the sheath round it to find out, and when front of radio is removed no sounds when ignition key is withdrawn.
With this type of radio if I disconnect the battery will I need a code to get it working again ??
 
Usually a " face off" head unit doesn't need a code as removing the face is the theft deterrent!

In fact, I think it's Sony, who will replace a stolen head unit if you can show them the face panel. I wonder how many they've replaced??=))

If you don't want to open full sheath at this stage - ease the plug out of the boot lid end and see if you gently pull on individual cables. If any withdraw you have your answer. ;)

There are actually 2 batteries in the house brick fob - my understanding is that the smaller circular one (top centre) looks after control circuitry and the larger one (left) is for the transmitter. When you press the buttons on the non-working fob does the transmit LED illuminate?
If not, it may be worth changing the larger one to see if it will transmit - if you are lucky the memory may be retained. It won't do any harm to try that part.

EDIT - Sorry - I missed your first comment that it does light up :oops: - forget that then and leave well alone!
