Imobiliser correct procedure

Tony, sorry I forgot to say yes it is a Sony
Thought it would be Geoff. At least that ticks one of the boxes. If I can find out how to turn that off Ill post it up for Grumpy and then you can turn it off on yours as well if you want to.:)

Tony.

... tell me how! It really bugs me!
& for you @Geoff Crispin.

It's the 'Caution Alarm', the manual says 'If you turn the ignition off without detaching the front panel the caution alarm will sound'.
To turn it off:
  1. Press 'Menu'
  2. Rotate control dial to 'General' then press it
  3. Rotate control dial to 'CAUT ALM' then press it to set to 'OFF'
  4. Press 'Back'

Hi Tony
I did down load the operating instructions, pages of it it is very complicated

Cheers Dave.;)

Tony.

No it does not bother me I just want to get the remote working and the central locking other than just drivers door and boot work together most of the time, passenger door works on its own may be a broken wire ?

The central locking failed on my 2000 Z3 a couple of years ago Geoff and it was the C/Locking solenoid in the n/s door which failed. I checked all the usual including the boot loom but it was the solenoid.

Hi Mr.Hard Top
My son has now told me what capital letters mean when typed, it was not my intention to shout just to make the greeting stand out, not au-fait with this modern type talk. still learning

I returned home to find my battery pancakes not even the red alarm led flashing, my wife promised to turn it over once a week. So out came the glove box flicked the switch over to programme and could not as the alarm was not in a disabled state so I remembered taking the module apart to short pins 1 to 6 and 1 to 8 and that did not work like before but after much head scratching I remembered I just had wasted my time as I have the code which is described how to use in th 3G ews manual so all sorted again but back to the IOM again later today no pressies for the wife next time though if she lets it go flat again funny how it goes that flat after standing for six weeks though.

My nephew is coming down from Surrey early Monday morning to work on the remote/fob problem and see if there is a broken wire in boot.
Will also try to remove gearstick knob (in another post) and gaiter
I will let you all know how we get on.
I am still getting a flat battery, went to show my friend who has the Z that will not do more than 40MPH (another post) after not using it for 3/4 days and battery not completely flat but very low, must find a way of checking boot light to day

@Geoff Crispin if you put your mobile phone in the boot and put the camera on to video record mode you can see if the light goes out when you close the boot.

My phone does not do that I am not upto date, but I felt the light glass (plastic) when I opened the boot and it was cold ?
Could be something with the central locking on passenger door not working.
I hope its a bit warmer next Monday, garage is not that warm as doors are not draft proof

Hi One and All
We have tried to re programme the brick type fob purchased on Ebay as per one of the posts that one of you sent but no luck, dead as a DoDo so don't know if its a dud fob or if there is something else wrong on the car that we don't know about. So put it all back together.
So any suggestions would be very helpful.

Forget about it and just use the key, I did and was happy to lock and unlock the car in the 'old fashioned way' and loose that bloody great big brick of a remote and, as a bonus, my neighbours were happy as well, no more loud 'Bleep, Bleep, Bleep' in the early morning when I unlocked the car to go to work.
