Key reprogramming (1 works)

My 2000 2.3 Z3 has three keys, two with the battery flashlight fobs and one a bit thinner that I suspect is the valet key. All 3 fit and move in the ignition but only the valet key will start the car.

Is this a programming thing I need to visit the dealer for $$$, or is there a process to get the car to recognize the unlinked keys?

Hi everyone Central locking via push button on key has stopped working, still works via door lock but no response when buttons on key pressed. Have replaced batteries in both keys still no response from either one, am guessing something to do with the CL gizmo in the interior mirror, anyone had...

Thanks, Nodzed, did you mean post #2? It looks like there are just 11 posts in that thread and I’m not sure I even have central locking - my real issue is the key won’t activate the ignition. The two keys manually unlock the doors and will move freely move the ignition tumbler but that’s all.

I also see this:

PLEASE NOTE: This programming procedure programs the remote control part of the key. Any transponder chip for the immobiliser (starting of car) will not be programmed and must be done by a specialist.
