Hi, just purchased these seats from eBay and picking up tomorrow, so bit of a mine-field for me with electrics and fitting. One seat has the pre-tensioner the other does not any advice on how to fit would be greatly appreciated, was hoping just to swap the bases/backs without changing the whole thing.

Hi, thanks just looking at relevant threads, going to pick up and clean before I do anything and probably dye black.

Hi just got back from Yorkshire with the seats and very happy with them, on eBay for a couple of hours I mailed the seller and got them for £50, so here they are uncleaned in all their Z3 glory, they came out of an Z3//M roadster.

The passenger (as per the norm) is pretty much perfect all the bolsters are fine with minimal wear. The drivers has more wear but not a lot, the only problem is the right hand side bolster there is a small rip in it. So I was wondering how hard is it to dye the beige leather a dark grey to match the bodywork of the car? Also was looking on line at re-upholstering and came across an invisible mend for small tares in leather seats.

Has anyone used or come across this before or is it worth just getting the bolster re-done?. So with that does anyone know of a decent upholsterer, looking at a recent forum post it seems a bit hit or miss for them.

£50 ????? 'kin 'ell

How about negotiating my next pay rise

^^Hi, thats what I thought the Z3///M seats are different I assumed these are the sport seats, the only real reason for change is the ones in the car at the mo are faux leather or bloody plastic ones. Did not fancy sitting in traffic in summer having my arse crack fill up with sweat. Having said that, I also did not fancy sitting in a seat where someone else,s arse crack has filled up with sweat and the residue may or may not be still residing on my seat.
Trying to find a happy place after that thought so really could not say no at that price as well, they should look great when finished.

Ps. the faux leather seats will be for sale at some point, I guess they would suit a hill climb car or fetishist.

Wow £50 for them was a steal, well done
I sold some a few months back for £270 and they weren't perfect.
So would you mind buying for me on my behalf in the future ?=))

Cheers, must admit when the seller messaged back £50 I thought he had left a number out. It was like waiting an eternity for him to get back to me to say they were mine. Kept refreshing the screen and I may have dribbled a little but heyho all good.

Just ordered some flexible leather filler and a small piece of leather to use as a backing for the small crease/tear. Hoping it should work I spoke to the company that sells and they are convinced it will be fine. After that will either buy grey dye or if I can't get the colour it's want some black and white and mix until I'm happy. Will post pics en_route.

That's a unbelievable deal you got. I once fixed a rip. On eBay I bought leather filler crem which one can sand down with sand paper and then use the dye to colour.
I was satisfied with my repair.

Just spoke to Liquid Leather to order the 500ml re-colour kit. So with the tiny repair to the bolster I am ordering a small BMW black dye as it really is only that one bolster that needs work. For the rest Im going for a BMW Mineral Grey to re-colour the beige parts of the seats, hoping the kit will be with me early next week.

I have been feeding the seats morning and night with leather balm and they have softened up nicely and almost all of the original creases have now gone or have been greatly reduced.

If anyone has experience of using the Gliptone re-colour system any advice would be appreciated, another question the seats are pre-facelift and my car is a face lift, does anyone know where I can find the correct cable patch for the seats?

Cheers guys

Andy

Best off checking which connectors you have first, as face lifts have used both types.

If you have this style on your car, then you need PN 61106916218

Would be part #5 on this diagram

^ Hi thanks Gaz, thats brilliant will check the seats when I get in.

Thanks Andy

will check the seats when I get in.
Just in case I didn't make it clear (which I'm not sure I did) - you need to check the connectors on your car first - not the new seats.

Hi, just finished four back to back 12 hour shifts and Im knackered and can't make any sense of the seat wiring. Looked on line and pdf,s but still confused so here is a pic of the wiring I have under my seat.

In the first picture it shows the seats have the old style connectors. In the pictures of under your seats you have the old style connectors.

So, should be a straight switch out without modifying any wiring :)

The last picture shows the occupancy sensor, which makes the passenger airbag 'live' if there is someone sat in it. Means it won't go off if no passenger in the seat.

Hi thanks Gaz, thats what it looked like but I was not sure if all the wiring from the new(ish) seats was all there.

Andy

Just picked up the face-lift heated seats switches from the states. With posting they worked out the same as the seats but hey-ho just got to dye and fit now.
