Hi all,

Yesterday I became the owner of a '97 z3. I'm surprised and delighted at how capable this little car is with a 1.9 litre engine. It was hard to find one reasonably priced in reasonable condition. Car has 87k miles and had a well detailed service history by the second owner who purchased in 2000 for just under £15k before selling to the owner I bought from in 2015 last year who claims did around 1000 miles.

If anyone has any tips or advice I would be very grateful and please ask any questions!

Hello and welcome from South Wales.

Hi from Canada!! And welcome to the elite group of members running the 1.9l motor know as the M44 Massive! Hope you enjoy the car and forum which is a bit of an asylum most days but also produces very good technical advise so if you have any questions just ask away!! JIM

Northern Ireland :)

Edit: Excuse the noob for messing up the quote!

Thanks for all the welcome messages folks. Really looking forward to restoring this motor to its former glory. One of the first things will be wheels as the tyres are done. I'm thinking 17s but would go to 18s if it doesn't ruin the ride quality or cause any other issues. Can anyone comment from experience?

Welcome @Amzed to the MassiveM44!
You can change tires dimension at will, but it runs perfectly with the factory tires and cheaper!
Don't forget to post some pics of your ride!
Dan

:welcome: from Milton Keynes.

1997 1.9 is definitely the way to go and welcome to the club..... I'm keeping mine on original Z star alloys for now but there are lots of people on here swapped for 17s and 18s (one of the reasons for me keeping the originals is that nobody else seems to do it)!

The bigger wheels certainly look the business - there's a whole array of photos of different styles and sizes in the media tab - but I'll leave for others to comment on the ride, which seems to be a personal preference.

Welcome to the Mad house, its addictive.
Kept mine on the original 16 inch star alloys replaced tyres with Falcons good ride quality with better handling

Welcome from Aylesbury you won't find a better or more helpful forum :p
