No secret, just loads of brake cleaner, and a few of those wire brushes you use in a drill in various sizes. Used Jenolite brake caliper spray paint - looked good when I did them 18 months ago, but could do with another go over now, so will probably try something else next time.

oooh is that silver paint? 😂 They look(ed) great anyway.
 
Over 4 years since I originally bought it and nearly 3 years since I sold it the car is back in my ownership. It's done nearly 5,000 miles in that time but the work @MarkLG1973 has done during his ownership has resulted in it driving better than ever.

When I sold it it was my 5th Zed and 1st pre-facelift 2.8 - it's now my 22nd Zed but I'm hoping to stick this time instead of continually chasing the next aquisition :thumbsup:

I've already been on the phone to our favourite vehicle trimmer in Swansea and managed to secure a date for late September - the roof is still watertight but there are a couple of rub marks, the stitching has gone in places and the beading around the plastic screen no longer secures the fabric. Hopefully the new roof will be the start of a much longer period of ownership this time around ;)

A previous modification had been made to the drivers seat but I've just fitted the seat lift brackets I purchased from @Southernboy the other month.

Very impressed with the quality and the associated result. I'm 6ft1in and find these prevent me needing to have the seat back pressing on where the rear speaker is mounted (not the bulkhead but what do you call that?) , they also make for a comfier driving position and make entry and exist much easier.

Must admit I also much prefer the Z3 standard seats to the Z3 sport seats. My previous 2 Z3’s had the sport seats but the standard ones don't seem to cause me as much back ache. Still I suspect size and weight has a big part to play in that conclusion ;)

As the new custodians of T515 BJB we thought it would be good to restart this thread, 1st job was to start the strip down, exhaust off arch liners out driver side front wing and sill off

Good start lucky with the sills, good clean and treat with heaps of Waxoyl before refitting the outer covers. Good luck with the rear frame going forward.
 
Did mine earlier in the year, great sense of satisfaction when its all complete and back on the road,

Thing is when you start it's how far do you go?
 
This is number four I’ve done the main thing with the rear out is to get all the bushes done tidy up the metal with paint or powder coat, sort the brake lines and hoses which are easier to get too now. Your right it’s hard to not get carried away tho 😂
 
One refurb is enough for me, luckily I was in no hurry with no time constraints. Once I got into it, it was I'll check this, oh and look at that lol. In the end the only thing I didn't do was remove the gearbox.
I'm pleased I checked everything, the transmission mounts looked OK but when I checked them one fell off, it was the weight of the transmission that was keeping them in place. I then decided to renew the shims and bushes and clips on the gear selector linkage, what a difference it has made driving the car, its like new.
 
Vin looks like he's enjoying himself.

Not surprised to find the body and sills in good condition after unbuttoning it. Looked a good car when I saw it a few years back on the Scottish Run.

Rear beam and arms dont look too bad either.

What's the plans for it?

The plan is to get the back end done then sort a few bits out on the front there’s a slight oil leak to fix and get it back on the road for March, Vin wants the wheels refurbished as well so that should be the last job.
