Just popped into Waitrose and came out to find a guy had driven into Rosie...grrr!!! Left Rosie's red oaint on his bumper...At least he gave his details...He took out the car beside him too!

Hopefully he’ll pay cash, otherwise you could end up with category N write off.
I guess you could buy it back and pocket the cash
 
Ask for a cash settlement in leui of repair. Means they send you the money but no CAT marker as not been written off. Not a Zed but I got that offer recently from Zurich (other parties insurance) they were happy as no pick up/hire car. I'd never heard of it. Their assessor who called me said " I take it with that little damage you want to keep it and repair yourself? If so I'll offer payment in leui of repair so no marker" money was in the account same day and I buffed scratches out and used touch up pen on bumper. Repaired for under a tenner. Pay out over £2k 👌

They'll do that for a Cat N, but not for a Cat S.

OP should try for this, as it's definitely a Cat N.
 
At least they exchange details ! Unfortunately I have to park in a retail park full of huge SCAM DON’T CLICK Range Rovers who like to scrape the corner of your bumper whilst exiting their parking space , happened twice already this year , wouldn’t drive my Coupe to work for that reason.
 
At least they left their contact details. Had my daily bumped in a garden centre car park just drove off leaving a 4.5k repair bill. Apparentley goes down as my fault have no claims protection but premium gone up on both cars as i have had a claim.
