I've had my wheel on and off quite a few times while doing my rebody - but today torquing up properly as the wheel won't need to come off for a while.

Do you guys brace the wheel with a bar while torquing up the bolt? or just engage the steering lock? Or what? basically I don't want to damage the steering lock.

Ta.

I just held it with my knees 😂

I wasn’t wearing shorts when I actually did mine …( and before any come backs on that … I had normal jeans on !!! ) . but it does depend on your thigh muscles =)) =)) =)) =))

It’s only 63nm ( 46ft:lbs) and Bentleys says don’t over tighten this nut.

Thanks - not wearing shorts - that's a mental image I can't un-see

Yeah. Once I looked up the torque I realised it was nowhere near enough to stress a steering lock - so I just engaged the lock and torqued it up.

With the wheels on the floor and no power steering running, I just tighten the bolt and give it a 'yank'. 16mm head which is also a weird size.

I have had my steering wheels (I'm on my third one) on and off more times than a tart's knickers and it's never come loose.

Shame the same can't be said for my wheels!
